TUDOR United SportsCar Championship

TUDOR United SportsCar Championship

The TUDOR United SportsCar Championship is a sports car racing series based in the United States and Canada organized by the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA). The TUDOR Championship merges the “best of the best” from the GRAND-AM and American Le Mans Series into a new, unified championship in 2014. The TUDOR Championship looks to draw the best from each into a unified, powerful and fan-focused new series that will have strong appeal to manufacturers, teams, sponsors, media and fans.

The TUDOR Championship, like the 24 Hours of Le Mans, features multiple classes of awe-inspiring sports cars racing on the track at the same time, making for seemingly endless passing throughout the race. Each car has two drivers (sometimes three for longer endurance races) who switch during the course of the race.

The TUDOR Championship has four different classes featuring two Prototype classes and two Grand Touring classes. The top Prototype class combines the GRAND-AM Daytona Prototypes (DP) with the American Le Mans Series P2 prototypes while the single specification PC class carries over directly from the American Le Mans Series.

The GT Le Mans (GTLM) class is a continuation of the American Le Mans Series GT class consisting of cars matching the Automobile Club de l’Ouest’s GTE specification. The GT Daytona (GTD) class combines the GRAND-AM GT and GX classes with the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars from the American Le Mans Series GTC class and cars built to FIA GT3 specifications.

The TUDOR Championship competes on North America's premier road courses and the majority of the races are timed races of 2 hours, 45 minutes, with a few endurance races that include the Rolex 24 at Daytona, the Twelve Hours of Sebring and Petit Le Mans.

Michelin participates in the only open tire class in the TUDOR Championship, the rugged GTLM class favored by major factory teams. Michelin has been chosen as the technical partner for BMW Team RLL, Corvette Racing, Porsche North America, Risi Competizione Ferrari, Krohn Racing Ferrari and Dodge Viper teams. All, except the Ferraris, are full factory teams.
